A Cat Named Darwin

(0 User Ratings)
A reformed biologist, William Jordan regarded science as an arrested state of emotional and intellectual development. Though he found animals fascinating as research subjects and useful as commodities, he had no love for them and felt vaguely contemptuous of those who did. But then a big orange tomcat--Darwin--strayed into Jordan`s life and changed him forever. As their bond deepened and Darwin`s health failed, Jordan was forced into a commitment he had never known before. Focusing the cold blue light of his intellect on his own emotional workings, he realized the great value of science in facing personal as well as worldly reality. Darwin taught him that evolution is about kinship and kinship is about love. In the end, the cat led the man to a simple and humble spiritual transcendence and made him a human being.
